The song “No Joy” borrows elements from modern reggae and pop sounds. 
 
No Joy tells the story of my life so far, the expectations and weight placed on my shoulders by my family to society at large. 
It talks about my rebellious attitude towards sticking to music and not giving it up. Also touches on the struggles I’ve had adapting to life in New York, with how long it took me to finish my undergrad. 
 
I was in a really dark place when I wrote this song. I remember going to the studio after a phone call with my mom. She had complained about how I haven’t been back to Nigeria for 11 years. 
 
It is saddening to know that I have been away for that long and the state of the country hasn’t improved but downgraded. Living conditions have gotten worse due to poor leadership and greedy politicians. For this fact I dedicate No Joy to all the lives we lost at the Lekki Toll gate on Oct 20th of 2020.
